【 Reason for Nomination 】
Under the theme of post-romanticism, this album seeks common ground while reserving creative differences, an approach reflected through the dramatic swings in music performed by Taiwan Philharmonic under the guidance of Conductor Lu Shao-chia. The distinct nuances in the recording and the simple design reflect the unrelenting efforts made by the orchestra to match international standards.
【 Highlights 】
Lu Shao-chia, who was once praised by the South German Newspaper (Süddeutsche Zeitung) as "a master of nuances and an exceptional conductor," released a seven-CD collection called "Highlights of Shao-Chia Lu & Taiwan Philharmonic Live: Boundless Music" in 2013. Two years later, he released a new album called "Highlights of Shao-Chia Lu & Taiwan Philharmonic Live: Richard Strauss Symphonia Domestica," which shows his unique interpretation of the German and Austrian schools of music. The 2015 album contains tracks written by Richard Strauss, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Jean Sibelius. The beautiful sounds make audiences feel like they are in a live concert listening to the sensitivity of the German and Austrian schools music presented by Lu, and swaying to the tempos of brass and wood instruments presented by Taiwan Philharmonic.
